About Bamyan

Bamyan Valley, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, holds some of Afghanistan's most spectacular natural and cultural treasures. This high-altitude valley was once home to the magnificent Buddhas of Bamyan, colossal statues carved into the cliffs that testified to the region's importance along the ancient Silk Road. While the statues were destroyed, the dramatic niches and surrounding cave complexes remain powerful reminders of Bamyan's Buddhist past. Nearby, the stunning Band-e-Amir lakes, Afghanistan's first national park, feature crystal-clear turquoise waters set against dramatic desert cliffs.
